River blew out this morning!

Dang it stormed hard Wednesday, but did not rain much overnight here on Wednesday night. River remains low and clear. Need much more rain. We tore em up today....

Squirrel season is out until mid May, Sissy is treeing and ready for when the season comes back in.

Dang it hot cold again this weekend and the dang wind lately has been brutal. I'm getting crazy muscles fighting these gale force winds. Not fun... River levels are running at 270 cfs and water clarity has been clear. Low clear water has dry droppers working great. Nymphs, midges and y2ks are hot about 3 ft down or what ever water levels allow. River is still a foot below average flow.

We did get a little rain but not enough to hurt river conditions. We got out and had a great day today. Hopper dropper with y2k got the big fish today. Caught the brown on Friday on olive. It was her first time fly fishing. She did really well!

I finally got back on the water on Wednesday and the river remains low and clear. I did not have to much trouble floating to Cedar Valley Resort take out down by Saddler Falls. The river is lower than I have ever seen it. Very thankful for my NRS raft that has been fantastic in this low water. Cooper falls does not have an easy pass now, really nice just going over in the raft. I will not be using my drift boats until we get a lot of rain. Creeks have gone dry... Catching

Roads are clear, but we still got a lot of snow to melt. River levels remain very low. Looks like not much run off from all this snow. Ground is soaking it up. I will get out this week and do a report. Too dang cold last week for fishing. Nice temps ahead! Im open Saturday and Sunday if anyone wants a guide trip. Im booking for April and May trip now. Got out and caught a few fish at dam 3 and dam 1 today. Crazy low and clear conditions had the fish rising. Had couple swipes at a dry, but a little red butt caught several. The river is at record low levels. I did see a few nice size fish at dam 1 chasing my woolly but didn't take. It's a bug kinda world with the clear water, might even need 5x. Loving my jeep right now in this mess!

Well we had a lot of sleet and some snow last night. It's a cold mess out there. They are getting main roads plowed. It's deep enough ya need a 4x4. So cold and that is what makes it dangerous. Be safe if ya have to get out!

We got out on Monday and got pretty cold. Caught several bows on olive and white, one beautiful smallie on white before we had to run for warmth. Snow this weekend! Can't wait!! River remains very low and clear.

Caught some on dries today. That is the good thing about a low clear river. The trout start to focus on bugs. Nymph those deeper holes! Dry droppers conditions!!

A couple of young guys and myself drug my raft from saddlers falls at Cedar Valley Resort access # 1 to the new hardy bridge. Crazy low and clear conditions. We caught fish and had fun, but we need some rain, really bad. Deads mans curve was not too bad. Really enjoyed seeing our beautiful smallies.

Well we got out today and had a lot of debris hit us about 10am. I thought maybe we had a lot of rain north of us, but about 2pm it began to clear up. They lowered the gate at dam 1 to drop all the water out of lake above. They do this to help kill the moss. Messed up fishing for a few hours, got down to Needles eye above Saddlers and the bite was on! 2 smallies and a bunch of bows. Nymphing and olive woollies. Turned out to be a great day!

Last few trips white lightning has worked, with best fly being y2k. Sunny days can be tough. Find the holes. River is as low as I have seen in over 20 yrs. Need a lot of rain bad. Sunday as the front moved thru, we had a brief shower. Caught a big largemouth bass today, and plenty of rainbows. Havnt seen a smallie or brown this week yet...

We are catching on olive bead head woollies, nymphs and y2ks. The low clear water has the fish Moody. Tough fishing, but when ya hit the right thing bites on! River is very low and clear. Need rain! The fish are spooky and on those sunny days can get tough. I've had nymphs be key on those days and then a woolly be hot. Fish hard!
