Tough but great day!

The river is looking great! Labor day weekend is the last party of the summer canoe season. And that has past and now the river becomes solely a fishing paradise.

We got on the river this morning and the fish were not hitting. It was about an hour in before we figured out what they wanted. I tie a hex nymph for this time of year. Yes we have Hex mayflies in the Spring River. It is a size 6 nymph that works great for an imitation. The brown trout were eating it up! We caught over 10 browns this morning. Before ya get excited they were small but oh so much fun! The rainbows were being snobby. We caught some big ones snd lost one that fought for 15 minutes before throwing the hook. A tough but great day. We did only do a half day. Its still too hot after lunch. Suppose to cool off next week....
