We are back from Michigan. We did have some rain on Thursday, little today and in forecast for more rain on Saturday. The rain is much needed with water levels very low lately. Doubt there will be enough to mess up the river tomorrow.
We are back to guiding on Sunday and will have a full report Monday.
The Pere Marquette was awesome! Big King Salmon every where. Black woollies and brown worked for us. I will say a normal hook is not a great option. We went out and straightened many a normal hook. Next year all of our flies will be tied on salmon hooks. If ya wanna go John Trinkle is the name of my friend that has a lot right on the river to host people that want to catch a King Salmon on the fly. On Wednesday we caught all of our kings within a hundred yard stretch right at camp. John does have campers for staying but being who we are we all slept in hammocks hanging from the trees. Such a great experience to share with my son this year. He landed two big fish and netted a monster for me. Steve caught over 5 with one being over 40lbs, it maxed the scale out above the 40lb Mark. I got about 6 and Josh caught about 7-8. The only way I can describe it is it's like hooking a pickup truck!
