We had a really nice day on the water today. We didnt catch a bunch but did land some nice rainbows. The river is up and flowing strong. Be careful wading, the river is pushing hard. The hot fly was the y2k. It was difficult getting the fly down, but that was were the fish were. We did not catch many near the surface. When the river gets up like this I like to focus on the slower channels and stay away from the faster water. Even though the river is flowing really fast on the surface, down near the bottom is where the calmer current and fish can be found. A simple trick is to add split shot about a foot above the fly to drop quickly. Euro nymphing would be great during high water. We do not want anymore rain for awhile.
