Perfect day

Saturday was so nice out, overcast dreary cold weather. A troutbums dream day. The two young men with me caught a bunch of bows and some really nice sized ones, but alas no brown landed. Heck couldnt even get a bite on an olive woolly. Best fly was dang y2k and that is what the brown hit, the big brown that got away. Still over 50 bows makes for a great day of catching.
The river has a heavy green stain to it, and that is why the y2k did so well. Water levels are at 340 cfs at the spring. Thats right at average flow. Not easy wading so take a wading staff and be safe.
Caddis and blue wing olives hatch daily on the Spring River, I always carry elk hair caddis and blue wing olives in my fly box. Lately on the tough days a nymph below a y2k can be the ticket, I still use a hopper a lot for the strike indicator. The trout really like indicators on the river.
