Olive woolly day

Wow what a day, the bead head olive woolly was the thing today! Swinging and with a fast strip, it was getting chased down today and attacked! It is the best streamer I know! Lots if doubles and many, many bows, about 4 browns and 3 really nice smallies that gave the best fight! All on Olive woollies, we did use El Diablos at first and they worked well, but changed to olive and things kicked into high gear.
Big thank you to Jim Hinkle for the weekly stocking and helping keep the Spring River stocked with trout. Without which we wouldnt have such a great fishery. We always catch and release and fully support Fred's Fish House on main Street in Mammoth Spring.
The smallmouth have been biting great lately. Once again the bead head olive woollie has been the hot fly. Defintely with a streamer presentation. The smallmouth bass and large mouth bass are two of the many native fish in the Spring River and surrounding creeks. The sunny days make them feed.
The Spring River has been flowing at 405 cfs, 350 avg, at the spring and water clarity has had a heavy green tint. Not the best clarity, but I will say the trout are seeing the flies no problem. It was almost all sight fishing today watching them chase the fly down. So much fun!
