Low and clear

The river is getting low. Trout have been hitting great and the weather has not been bad. Catching plenty of big fish on white lightning lately. Cast straight across and let it swing. We have had plenty of slow days too. The sunny warmer days when the bite slows is the best time for nymphs. Heavy hatches of caddis and mayflies. On the slow days look for the deeper pockets and get that fly down.

The winter season is the best time for big fish. Lower numbers of stockers in the river this time of year gives the bigger fish a chance to feed. We have caught a few browns lately and smallmouth bass. Just remember this time of year, the colder the better.
