Low and clear

Great week on the river with the bright sunny days bring tougher fishing. Have to get the fly to the bottom. High sticking and indicators have been go to on sunny days. Y2ks, blobs, and El Diablos have worked well and some days small nymphs. Lots of caddis and blue wing olives hatching daily. One day the shad and minnows were feeding on the bugs and the trout were chasing the minnows. That day the guppie and the white lightning was hot, baitfish imitations.
We did have 1 cloudy morning and a olive woolly on the strip was the ticket on a fast strip back. I love it when the fish are chasing the fly. The chase is the race! We have went from 3x tippet to 4x and some days 5x. I don't like when the river gets so clear. Makes the fish spooky from birds and the boat. We need some rain.
Still catching smallies and we did see a huge brown on Saturday. The big fish are moving with this cool weather!
