Fish early

Had a great week catching some really nice big rainbows, with smallmouth and large mouth bass and a few brown trout sprinkled in. The browns were stocked about a month ago, avg 9 inches and love nymphs stripped away from them and sometimes eating up dry flies. The bass and big bows seem to like white lightning below a float for the really good sizes. Only problem is the smaller numbers fish are having trouble eating the bigger flies. But hey hunting for big fish is all about hunting for big fish! If ya want numbers, it's hard to beat bead head nymphs lately. Cloudy days have been the best. Streamer fishers dream. Big olive woollies cast to the bank and stripped back up stream.
It has been hot out and only gonna get hotter next week. Fish early in the day and I recommend getting off the water noon-4 pm. The bass like the heat but the trout get scarce on those hot sunny afternoons. Half days trips have been the trick.
We are open Thurs, Fri 9-3 and Saturday 9-noon. Next week wwe will be closed at the fly shop. We will be on a family vacation. Benjamin will still be guiding while I am gone. He still has some spots open. He will be home until August 6th then goes back to Alaska to guide until the end of September. I will be back from vacation on August 1st. Get out and fish! The river is cold!
