Dry, dry, dry

Dang it has been dry all of 2026 here. The river is below 300 cfs with 350 average flow. Way to hot for low water. Not good at all on trout. I hope we get more rain soon!

They are stocking really nice rainbows in the river, fun, fun! I hope a few make it to grow big, trout that size can grow quick on the Spring River. So much bait in the Spring the trout have plenty to eat. Been a lot of pressure with the low water conditions making it easier to catch them and for the animals to catch them too. I see a fat osprey every morning, bless his heart. Seeing a lot of otter on the river too, and that aint good!

I will say with the new regulations on the smallmouth fishery the smallie fishing should get really good over the next few years. I gotta say im chasing them more and more over trout these days.

Stay cool, fish early and nap thru the afternoon! And if your best friend looks like Sissy, take them by to get a pup cup at Dairy Queen! She loves the ladies there, or it might be the ice cream. Whatever makes her happy...
