Big fish time!

The Spring River is running at 340 cfs this morning a little below average. Water clarity has been stained all week. Rain on Tuesday was minimal. Today has rain moving thru that may or may not be heavy and then on Friday looks like more rain. As of this morning the river looks perfect for chasing big fish

Over the last week the bite has been tough but we are hitting some of the big fish now. Really big fish! Streamers would be the natural choice with the off water conditions but of course that's not how we are catching them. One of my big ole Y2ks has been the ticket this week. Gotta get it down then a strong swing out at the end of the swing. We always start out with woollies but this week we have not had many chases. Nymphing will get ya into better numbers but gotta get it down.

I think we are gonna have a perfect January and February for bigger fish. It has been so warm this winter the big fish have not been moving as much as the will when it gets cold. All we need is some cold steady temps. Sunday is a high in the 30's and that's a good thing!!

Now dont think we are crazy for fishing cold weather. Dress heavily in layers and they do sell heated vests, socks and gloves now! The heated vest I use I got on ebay for $25. Just saying no reason to freeze out there! I keep seeing heated seats and plan on having those next year!

We caught this big bow on a y2k and it's mate was just as big but got off before we could get a pic of him!
